ALSEMAC is an initiative focused on promoting responsible production and consumption of safe, healthy and sustainable (triple\u2011S) food within a circular economy framework.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Expected outcomes include gathering information on potential food hazards and promoting the sustainability of local production through integrated farming practices and organic fertilisation, to reduce the carbon footprint.<\/p>\n

In a later phase, the project will focus on promoting responsible consumption, using surveys on perceptions of the circular economy and food safety, and introducing the concept of \u201chidden hunger\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

Advancing the transformation of food systems in the regions involved in the project towards a food system centred on safe, nutritious, available and sustainable food, also accessible to the population \u2013 food we have coined as triple\u2011S.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

03\/ Approach<\/h4>\n

This project is conceived as an exchange of experiences to develop a joint strategy for responsible production and consumption of food within a circular economy framework.<\/p>\n

  • Canary Islands, Madeira and Azores: monitoring of food contaminants, boosting sustainability in production, and promoting local products with circular economy actions. <\/li>\n
  • Cabo Verde: monitoring of contaminants, promotion of sustainable production, assessment of risk from contaminant intake and population nutrition, and establishing awareness measures for responsible consumption and support for local products.<\/li>\n
  • In Ghana, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire and Senegal: a pilot monitoring programme will be launched.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>
